Regardless of age, it’s a common problem to suffer from acne.  It can be an ongoing problem or it can come and go.  Contrary to what conventional medicine may say, diet is related to skin problems.  Sticking to a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables will start to address issues with acne.  At the same time, it is essential to eliminate processed foods and sugar.  In the process of removing foods, it can also help to reduce caffeine, alcohol, meat and dairy products.

Acne is caused by hormones called androgens.  They affect the oil glands (sebaceous glands) in the skin so it is important to pay attention to foods that affect your hormone levels.  Hydrogenated fats that are found in cookies, cakes, chips, biscuits and pastries all promote inflammation which is associated with acne.  Decrease your consumption of bad fats and increase fats such as olive, flax and avocado oil.  Take control of your diet and this will start to improve your skin problems.
