Condiments can often pose a lot of trouble for people.  Commercial sauces like ketchup, HP, mayonnaise, mustard and hot sauces usually contain sugar and preservatives that are problematic to our systems.  Even if we’re consuming healthy meals, we can ruin them by pouring these sugary sauces all over them.

Try to change your condiments.  Rather than adding ketchup to your eggs, add fresh herbs.  Rather than adding sauces to your sandwich add sprouts or avocado.  Remember that anything that comes in a bottle usually has artificial ingredients to help preserve it and lengthen its shelf life.

Try to make it a habit of adding sprouts and herbs to each meal.  This way, you’re using living foods to increase your nutrient levels, rather than enzyme-zapped foods that will lower your energy levels.

Play around with different herbs and sprouts.  Some are stronger than others so will provide a lot of flavour.  Only a few basil leaves can enhance an entire dish.  Alfalfa sprouts are the most popular but test out some of the others.  Radish sprouts and broccoli sprouts have a pungent flavour but sunflower sprouts are mellow.

Try to decrease your use of things that come in cans, jars and bottles.  If you love ketchup, add fresh tomatoes to your meal.  If you love spicy bottled sauces, add chili peppers instead.  It’s summer now so grow some herbs in your yard or on your window sill.  They will add so much flavour to your meals but will also add to your overall health.  Parsley has more calcium than milk, although the Dairy Industry would not like that to become well known  🙂

This is a very simple meal.  I cooked quinoa and let it cool.  I then cooked courgettes (zucchini), green onions and sweet potato in garlic, shallots and olive oil.  Allow them to cool and mix everything together.  Drizzle some olive oil  and fresh squeezed lemon juice on top.  Top with basil and sprouts.  Add some sea salt and cracked pepper if desired.
