I’m lucky to have a farmers’ market that is very close to my house.  It takes place every Sunday and it lasts throughout the entire year which is great.  Most markets I’ve been to before are seasonal.  It’s great to shop locally and meet the people who grow your food.  Generally, the food will be more nutritious as well, since it hasn’t had to travel long distances to get to your door.  Seasonal eating also tunes us into nature, as we eat more cooling foods in the summer and warming, root vegetables in the winter.  The carbon footprint is terrible when we buy strawberries in the middle of winter since they have to travel great lengths.  So many reasons to eat seasonally and locally!
